Boo!

Halloween was so much fun this year with Ashtyn!  I was sad we never made it to a pumpkin patch because Ashtyn is obsessed with pumpkins.... but she got to be one for Halloween.  Thanks to Grandma Shelley for the costume!  On Saturday, we went to a Trunk or Treat at our church and Ashtyn loved it!  She loved hanging out with the Staub girls and thinking she was one of the big kids.  For the first car she was a little shy about going up and saying trick or treat but she quickly got over that!
On actual Halloween, we went over to my parents house for soup and so they could see Ashtyn in her costume, and went trick or treating in their neighborhood.  As soon as the door would open, Ashtyn would try to go into the house!  We had a lot of fun with our "lil punkin" this year!

This girl cracks me up!  She loves to be outside and play in the water.  Thanks to our neighbors, we have this awesome kiddie pool that has a little slide.  The water is usually freezing but Ashtyn doesn't mind!  She also loves to wear her sunglasses everywhere!  She thinks she's pretty cool!

Proof that Ashtyn loves the rain!  I had lunch with my parents and this little girl was loving trying to catch the rain!

Look at that little bum!  As soon as Ashtyn hears the water for the bathtub, she goes running!

I love my little girl.  I can't believe how fast time flies.  The other day I was looking down at her as she was trying to go to sleep and realized she is not a baby anymore :(  Although I look forward to every stage in her life, it made me miss her being a newborn.
I have a toddler.  She loves to go outside or "side" as she says from the instant she gets up in the morning.  Don't judge me, but Ashtyn still loves her bottle or "billy ba".  She refuses to drink out of a sippy cup.  She'll drink out of a regular cup and a straw but does not like her sippy.
Swimming in Durango with Logan
During memorial weekend, Dave and I packed up and made the 18 hour drive (in 2 days) to Durango Colorado.  I was really proud of Ashtyn!  She was such a trooper and only cried because she was bored a couple of times.  We had so much fun hanging out with Angie and Greg, Dave's parents and Grandparents.
The last two weeks have been crazy busy for us!  I had to work some dance and cheer camps so Ashtyn got to hang out with her Grandma and Grandpa.  She loves going to see them and got seriously spoiled!  My dad had to go to HEB and buy some donuts just because Ashtyn loves them!  She also got to go swimming and had a water fight with Grandpa.  See I told you she gets spoiled!
Cupcakes on Dave's birthday thanks to Angie!
Got caught feeding Max!

The other day I went on a walk with my parents and I brought my new camera along.  I'm trying to learn all I can about the thing.  I know their not professional pics or anything but I was proud of them!

Practicing with my new camera.  Love this picture!
Last week was mother's day and it made me realize how blessed I am to have such great examples in my life.  My mom is the perfect example of putting her family first.

I am also grateful for the opportunity I have to be a mom.  I love my baby girl so much and feel so blessed that I get to be her mom!
On April 26-30th I was in Disney World!  My sr hip hop team qualified for Worlds.  It was so fun, but I was really stressed out having to be in charge of 17 teenage girls and a teenage boy!  They were great kids and I had great chaperones to help out! I really missed my little family though.  I had never left Ashtyn for more than just a night, so by the third day, I was pretty homesick!  I brought my computer so I could skype with them so it made it a little better!  Next time they are coming with me!

On Friday, we got together with some friends for a sushi party.  They had attended a sushi rolling class so they showed us how to make our own.  Before they came over over, I told them that I like California rolls, with the imitation crab.  The thought of eating raw fish grosses me out.  I learned that in order to eat raw fish, you have to get a special kind.  It's fish that is immediately frozen upon catching to make it edible... or something like that.  I couldn't believe myself, but I ate the raw tuna and salmon.  It was actually really good.  You couldn't really taste the fish with everything else that was in with it!

Happy Easter!

Ashtyn had her first Easter Egg hunt last Saturday! She loved it! She would get fascinated with one egg and would spend all of her time trying to open it. She's such a fun age right now! I love how she tries to imitate everything we do. Thanks Grandma Shelley for the cute Easter dress. We found, I mean the Easter bunny brought a perfect matching basket! This girl is into EVERYTHING at the moment! I don't have any decorations in my house that are below knee level. Usually when Ashtyn is quiet, I can find her trying to feed Max his dog food or dipping it into his water. When I went to go check on her, this is what I found! The Easter bunny was good to me and Ashtyn this year. Poor Dave got left out. The Easter Bunny brought Ashtyn a new little dress, two swimsuits and lots of candy! I got a DSLR camera!!!! Ask me how excited I am! SO EXCITED! I've been wanting one of these forever, and I was not disappointed! I got the Cannon Rebel T3. It's a little intimidating though! I've been going through the users manual like a crazy person. I feel like if I'm going to have this nice camera, I want to know how to use it!!! The weather has been amazing here in good ol Sugar Land. We took our first dip in the pool with some friends the other day. I must say Ashtyn was a lot easier to watch in the swimming pool last year. Ashtyn wanted to walk around but didn't understand that the pool dropped off so I had to keep chasing her before she fell off the landing step! She had so much fun with her friends though! I have a feeling it's gonna be a great summer! This little girl LOVES putting on her daddy's hats and her mommas sunglasses. I got her her own pair but she dropped them on one of our walks. My friend Lindsay and I went to a fitness convention (DCAC) last weekend. It was a great time, but man I was dead... and sore! And to think that we do that to ourselves for fun! We went to a BOSU class and at the end, they picked somebody as the MVP, who got a free DVD and CD. Guess who got picked, yours truly :) I was so excited. I don't think it hurt that I wore pink pants!!! I kind of feel like I'm a chicken with my head cut off right now! My senior hip hop team made it to Worlds in Disney World, so I've been doing all of the last minute things to get ready for it! I don't know how I'm going to survive 5 days without my baby girl... oh and Dave :)

My baby girl is 15 months! I know I start out all my posts this way but I just can't believe. Ashtyn is no longer a baby... she's a toddler! We go in for her 15 month check up on Tuesday so I'll post the stats after that. I swear everyday she learns something new... she folds her arms for the prayer, LOVES pulling everything out of the drawers (that aren't child proofed), and loves giving hug and kisses. I love this little girl so much!
She's finally starting to get some hair too! Enough that the other day she woke up with bed head. I love getting her up in the morning because she wakes up in such a good mood.
On another note, I decided to open up my etsy shop again! I am selling jersey knit headbands for babies and have already sold quite a few items. So if you get a chance, check it out and "heart" some of my items :) You can even "pin" them! (I'm temporarily sold out of the leg warmers)
Dave has been doing awesome and running a lot. He was training to do the half marathon in Utah with his family the end of April but then I had to go and ruin his plans... My senior hip hop team got a bid to Worlds, so I'm going to Disney World! I'm going to feel a little guilty not taking Ashtyn and Dave, so next time we'll plan a little better and take the fam.

Finally it's a little cold around here. It's February and has been in the high 70's. Maybe it's the Idaho in me, but I like winter to feel like winter! Today it was only 60 and is suppose to stay that way for the next week.
Speaking of cold, poor Ashtyn has a little cold right now :( She's blowing lots of snot bubbles (gross I know) and is starting to get a little cough.
Competitions have taken up my life the last little bit. I love them but I definitely feel run down. This time of year, I cherish my time with my family. I'm glad Dave is such a hands on dad and can take care of Ashtyn by himself all day long! I really appreciate all he does for us!
I went to my first Broadway musical last month! For Christmas, my boss got all the employees tickets to Bring It On.....and it was AMAZING! Definitely did not disappoint! I came home and told Dave that we need to go to more musicals. I love the whole atmosphere... although I'm sure Bring It On had more teenage girls than most! I'm not a very good picture taker. I love having pictures but I forget to pull out my camera... or my iphone! I want a DSLR camera really bad but Dave thinks I won't use it since I have a hard enough time just using my phone. Ok the reason for all of that is because I only have one picture to share :( Isn't she precious!!!

Christmas

This year we celebrated Christmas in Utah! It was so nice to spend a little more time with Dave's family. We left Sugar Land on the 21st and got to Utah around 5 pm. Ashtyn was awesome on the flight! We tried to keep her from taking a nap so she would sleep on the plane and it worked! She slept for 2 of the 3 hour flight! When we got to Utah, we stayed at Dave's parents house for the night and headed to Idaho the next morning. We were only there for two nights... so I'm so sorry to all of my Idaho friends for not contacting you but we spent the time with my family. We did Christmas Eve Eve (Dec 23rd) where all of the fam came over and we opened our gifts. Since our family is getting so big and none of us have money :) we decided to do a dollar gift with a story of our childhood behind it instead of drawing names. (My moms idea) It was fun to see what people brought and to hear their story. I brought chocolate milk and told the story of Tanner riding in the car with me when he was about 5 and spilling it all over my car! My car smelled like sour milk from that day forward! Dave brought vanilla car fresheners because that's the scent he had in his car when he would drive up to Idaho to see me every weekend! We headed back to Utah to spend the rest of our vacation! On our way, we stopped in Preston to see Nate and Katie's (Dave's brother) house they just purchased. It was really cute and fun to see them!
Ashtyn in her Christmas outfit!
Later that night, we did a Garrett tradition with his parents and grandparents and went to a nicer restaurant to eat for Christmas Eve. It was a barbeque place and was delicious!!! When we got to the Garrett's home, Ashtyn got to open one present... her Christmas pajamas!!! She didn't quite get the whole gift thing yet but she did like to tear the wrapping paper! On Christmas morning, we opened some presents and then went to church, came back, and Dave's brothers came over. Later that night Angie and Greg and their kids got there from Durango. We were so excited to see them, and their kids really kept Ashtyn entertained! While in Utah, we went to a movie, shopped, ate ALOT, and just spent some quality time with Dave's family. It's always hard to come home after being spoiled and get back to reality!
Christmas eve. Dave's grandpa Glen, John, and Dave.
We also had a chance to hang out with Danny and Stacy and some of Dave's other high school friends. It was so great to chat with them! Little A gained quite the attitude! She knew she had all the kids attention and she loved every minute of it! I think she's pretty bored just hanging out with mom and dad now!
Now it's time to get back to reality now that the holidays are over.... is it too early to start counting down for next Christmas! :)
Ashtyn's new trick :)
