I can't believe Dave and I are parents! I had a doctors appointment on Wednesday (Dec 1st) and my blood pressure was high so the doc sent me straight to the hospital. (If it wasn't high, they were going to induce me the next day). So we get to the hospital and my blood pressure was normal, so they decided to keep me anyways, and hook me to the IVs. While I was there, I realized that I've never had to be in the hospital before or have an IV! They put us in a room and we pretty much just had to hang out until 8pm (we got there at noon). At 8 they put me on something to get the cervix ready and said that I would start to have cramps that continuously got worse and asked me if I wanted an Ambien and a pain pill. I don't even like to take Tylenol so at first I said no. At around midnight I decided to get the Ambien so I could get a good night's sleep and have energy for the next day. I still wasn't asleep by three, so we decided I better take the pain pill. Before the nurse had even left the room, I was out, and didn't wake up until they broke my water at 8 in the morning! They started me on the Petosin at that time and I started moving right along! When I was dialated at about a 4 I got an epidural... which is not what I expected! I thought I wasn't going to feel anything, but I could still wiggle my toes and everything...but I could'nt feel the contractions, so I guess it worked! I finally felt like I had to push and there wasn't anyone in the room except me and Dave... our nurse had left to get lunch! She finally came back and I started to push... it came time that the baby was coming and the doctor wasn't there yet. They told me to stop pushing until the doc got there... one of the nurses said she just called him and he was three minutes away. Three minutes doesn't seem like it's that long... most of the time. As soon as he came in, I had to start pushing and he was still putting on his gloves! After about 5-10 pushes, little Ashtyn was here! Afterwards, the placenta was stuck on my uterus, and this was the most painful part of the whole thing! Its called Placenta Accreta (or something like that). It only occurs in 1 out of 2500 pregnancies and most of the time, it ends in an operation. Sometimes they have to do a DNC or possibly a hysterectomy! So I got lucky that I didn't have to have anything major go on! Just my stomach was so sore to the touch for a couple of days afterward... Dave had to help me get up and out of chairs. I'm just happy that Ashtyn is healthy and happy... and all and all is was a really good experience!! I've posted some pics on Facebook but here are some more! I love how Max didn't want to be left out! First diaper change!

We're getting very anxious!!! I feel like we are as ready as we will ever be to have this girl... so now it's just a waiting game! A lot of my friends told me the last two weeks are the hardest but I think it's one of those things you just have to experience! Any little ache or pain I feel, I get excited and think it's time to go in! Thanks to all of my friends and family for all of your advice and love through this pregnancy! Hopefully this will be the last pregnancy picture! I know dad, I'm huge!

Here is week 33! Last Saturday, one of my coworkers (and friend) got married. It was a really beautiful wedding and she looked gorgeous! Here is a pic of some of my other coworkers at the wedding! (I looked too big to post the pic I had with the bride... or with Dave)!

There's no place like home! Dave and I got to go to Salt Lake and Idaho last week. I don't mind traveling but I can definitely see why Dave does! Our flights were full and so Dave had to sit in a middle seat... I had the end and tried to switch him but I don't think he wanted to keep getting up for me to go the restroom! Once we got to Salt Lake, we were waiting for our bags and noticed this one suit case that was in a big plastic bag. We kept thinking that that was a crazy way to pack.... low and behold, Dave's zipper had broke on his bag and so they had shoved it in the plastic bag! Yea, the "white trash" bag was ours! Dave's shoes and clothes were hanging out everywhere! We stayed with Dave's parents the first night and had dinner with his family. It was good to catch up! It was my mom's 60th birthday and my dad had planned for all the kids to be home and surprise her! Most of my family live pretty close except me and my brother. He came down from Washington. It was super fun to watch her reaction. Dave says he's never seen anyone go from a smile to a cry so fast! I was very proud of my dad for planning this! I was happy for the excuse to go home too! It was the only time that my family gets to see my pregnant! (I don't know why I was excited about that... if you know my family at all, you know how sarcastic we are. You don't go around my house to build your self-esteem!!! So I got teased about being huge and having a big behind!) The next day, my sister and friends threw me a baby shower. It was so good to see everyone! Thanks to my family and friends for making the effort to come and see me! Afterwards, we had arranged to get family pictures done... even they will be outdated in two months. It's really hard to get ALL of my family together so we decided we better take advantage of this chance! I'm excited to see how they will turn out! Dave and I also got some pregnancy pictures done.... no bare belly. It seemed like it went way too fast but I was so glad that we were able to go home lone last time before the baby comes! Here's some pics... warning, I have really ballooned lately! I didn't realize how big I'm getting until I start looking at the pics!

10 weeks left!!!! Isn't that crazy. I find myself getting more impatient each week.... but then I think, WAIT! I don't know if I'm ready to be a mommy! I guess ready or not... I also find it's getting harder to bend over to pick things up, and my feet are starting to hurt by the time I get off of work. My ankles have only swollen up once though! Here's me at 30 weeks. On another note.. I am now an official citizen of the United States! I didn't even know I wasn't one until March of this year. I tried to get a passport and because I have a Canadian birth certificate, they told me I couldn't get one unless I had a Naturalization Certificate. So after $500 and 6 months later, I can now say I can get a passport!!!

First of all, if you don't know us... please don't comment on our blog. The last couple of posts, we have had random comments from people we don't know and it's a little annoying!!!!! Ok now that I have that off my mind... I'm 28 weeks along!!! And I am HUGE!!! Oh, and I think we've decided on a name... wait for it... ASHTYN SOPHIE GARRETT. Dave and I both agreed that we like this name, but we are still seeing if there's anything out there we like better! My latest crazy craving. Banana peppers! I don't like spicy food so I get the mild kind. I am definitely my father's daughter! We got our crib!!! And we started painting the baby's room! The baby is gonna be here before we know it, and getting the room together makes it seem so real... and the fact that I've started bumping into things with my belly!!! My mom and dad bought us the crib bedding and it's so cute! We decided we are doing the room in zebra print and pink!

Here she is! We found out we're have a girl!!! I'm so excited.... but worried, because there is so many fun things to buy for girls!!! Look at this little booty! It is definitely a kid of Dave and mine!!!! We were joking around that she is already a drama queen. She looks like life is so tough!!! So here is a picture of me at 21.5 weeks! I'm getting huge! But it's for a good cause! Some of our cheerleaders were invited to dance at the preshow for the MLS allstar game. What an experience! There were around 70000 people there! It was so cool to be a part of it!

A lot has happened the last couple of months. First off, my parents, Tera (my sis), her boyfriend and my niece all came down to Texas around the first or May. They were here for a day and then we went to Galveston and left for a seven day cruise. It was so fun! This is was me and Dave's second cruise. I actually think I enjoyed it more this time... just because we figured out we could do whatever we wanted to! The first cruise, we were so afraid we were going to miss out on something that we didn't relax like we did on this one. We left from Galveston and went to Jamaica, Grand Cayman Island, and Cozumel. The first stop was in Jamaica. We went up in the mountains and took a canoe ride down. It was so beautiful! And relaxing. The canoes were homemade and a guide stood in front and paddled for you. The second island we went to was Grand Cayman. The original plan was to swim with the sting rays but the water was too high and they canceled that excursion. So we instead went on a little tour of the island. We went to a turtle farm where they had these huge turtles! You could hold the young ones but not the huge ones. It was cool to see them up close. Then we spent the rest of the day at the beach! It was so pretty! The third day was spent in Cozumel. We went to an exclusive beach called Nochi Cocum. Here we just swam and relaxed. We were going to go snorkeling but then decided we would just snorkel of the beach. Didn't see much but it was still really pretty! It was so fun to spend time with my family! I'm so glad they were able to come down and spend their vacation with us! About two weeks later, I went up to Idaho. My sister Theresa had a baby, and I really wanted to see her while I had some time off work. Baby Maci is so precious! She was a premi so she was only 3.9 when she was born, But when I got there, she was 6 weeks old and weighting a little over 6lbs! It seems whenever I go home, there is not enough time to see everyone and enjoy the family like I want to, but it was still a lot of fun! And last but not least, it was Dave's birthday last month. We didn't do anything big because Dave considered the cruise his present. What a good guy!

Spring Break has come and gone! I can't think of a better way to spend it, than with my hubby and our families! We went to Salt Lake last week for Dave's little brothers wedding. It was fun to spend time with the in-laws. Everything is always so relaxed and worry free when we're there. We arrived in Salt Lake on Tuesday around noon. After grabbing some lunch, we headed to Shelley's (Dave's mom) school. She teaches 2nd grade and some of her boys want to play football when they grow up, so Shelley thought it would be good for them to meet Dave. After that, we went to Dave's parents home and took a nice nap. Exactly what we needed after a day of traveling! We were able to go and see some of Dave's high school friends that night. It was a lot of fun to hang out and catch up. The next day, we slept in, and then got ready to go to through the Jordan Temple. It was so pretty and such a great experience to go with Dave's family. The next morning was the big day for Nate. Nate and Katie got married in the Salt Lake Temple. It was suppose to rain that day but ended up being a beautiful day. The reception was that night and that's where the fun began... at least for Angie, me and Megan. We were dancing (mind you we were the ONLY ONES dancing some of the time), eating out of the chocolate fountain, and stealing all of the delicious mint truffles. The next day, my parents drove down to pick us up and take us to Idaho. How sweet are they? On Saturday, we had Theresa's baby shower and a couple of my friends came down from Pocatello to see me. I was so glad that my fam planned to have the baby shower while I was there! It made me feel like I didn't live so far away. It was so nice to see everyone, and I really appreciate Danielle and Hailey for making the drive, and letting me meet their new additions to their family! All of my family came over that night for a nice family dinner. The next day, mom and dad took us back to Salt Lake to go home. I was only home a day and a half and would have loved to see more of my friends, but maybe next time!

Ok, I don't know what my deal is, but lately all I want to do is crafty things. I thought I would get you all up to date on my new obsessions! First off, if you don't already know, I have an etsy shop. Well actually I have two! So check them out any time you want! Janagarrett.etsy.com and Sassy Accent.etsy.com. I am in love with making watches and these rosette flowers. All I want to do! Oh, and I made a bag too. I guess this is my way of dealing with stress, right?

Wow another year has come and gone! It's hard to believe. This Christmas was definitely a different experience for us. We decided, since we just purchased our house, we would stay here for Christmas and save our money. This was my first Christmas ever away from my family. Luckily Dave kept me busy so I didn't have time to dwell on it and be sad! Christmas eve is always a huge deal at my house... everyone come over and we play games and eat lots of food, etc, etc. So I probably had the hardest time that day. Dave and I went to Fudruckers with a bunch of other members from our ward, and then a little later that night, we drove around and looked at Christmas lights. Some people are so creative with their decorations! Although we weren't around all of our family, and I got sad when I thought of everyone back home, we still had a good time together! Dave and I decided that we were going to do just little stocking stuffers for each other this year at about a $50 limit. Well I kept to the plan and just got him a couple of gift cards I knew he would like. Then I open my present and he had gotten me a Flip video. He definitely didn't stick to the plan! But I LOVE my gift. It is so nice because it has a USB port built right in the side of it! I can't wait to use it! A little later that day, we went and watch Sherlock Holmes. It was ok, I thought it would be better but it was still good. Dave's parents came into town the day after Christmas. It was so nice to spend time with them. We always get spoiled when they come down. We went shopping, to the movies, and out to eat, to name a few of our ventures while they were here. I was telling Dave that for as long as we've been married, I think that was the most time we've spent with his parents. It was really nice. New Years Eve was fun too. We went to Sugar Land Town Square to celebrate with Greg and Angie. We went and ate a really good restaurant, I think the name was Toisha. Then we listened to a live band and hung out for a while. Around 11pm, we decided to go see our friends Josh and Jacquelyn, who just had a cute little baby boy, and celebrate the New Year with them. We were all talking so much that we missed midnight. We looked at the clock at 12:01! I'm sad that the holidays are coming to an end but Dave and I have had a great time sleeping in and taking it easy!
