Ok I was so proud of myself I had to share.... since I have the two weeks off from work, and we're not going home this year :( I have a little time to do some crafts. I found this cute idea at Crafting chicks and I made a cute wreath! After making the wreath, I thought it needed a bow so I was headed to Michaels to find ribbon with all the intentions of making one myself. The lady by the flowers was making a bow just like I needed so I asked her to make me one. Ten dollars later, I had a perfect bow to finish my wreath! Aren't you impressed!!!!

I can't believe Thanksgiving has already come and gone! This year, my parents came here to Houston. It's been 2 years since I've had a Thanksgiving with my parents. That might not sound like a long time to some of you, but for me, that's REALLY long! They were here for a little over a week. As soon as they got here, we started working on our kitchen. We tore down the over hanging cupboards and changed the fan to a globe light. Thank goodness they like doing things like this because it was a lot of work! We also put base boards in the bathroom! While they were here, it wasn't all work, we took a couple days and headed to Louisianna to play! We spent one night in Lake Charles and went to Lauberge to play our hand at the penny slots. The next day we headed to New Orleans. On our way, we got caught in traffic.... which is never fun, but there was a really bad accident that had both sides of the road blocked for 3 hours! So we got into New orleans later than what we would've liked. Once we got there, we found out that a college play off game was going on. There were so many people there that it made it hard to move. So again, we tried our hand at the penny slots and the next morning we headed home. I feel like I got really spoiled while the parents were here. Every morning there was breakfast and my mom was doing my laundry and cleaning my house! Thanks mom and dad for coming down, I had sooo much fun with yall! Oh yea, Dave and I are now official house owners! YEEHAW!

Dave and I just got back from a fun little weekend in Denver. One of Dave's old college roommates, Grant, got married. Dave was asked to be an usher so he got to get all dressed up in a tux and help people to their seats. We were able to hang out with Mike, one of Dave's best friends a lot during the weekend. Surprisingly, we were able to hang out with Shannon and Grant as well! I've met Shannon a couple of times and every time I see her, she is so nice and cool! The first night we got in, Dave and I kind of hung out on our own. The next day, we met up with the other guys in the wedding and picked up the tux's. After that, Dave had a rehearsal so I just hung out in the room. After the rehearsal we went to the rehearsal dinner. We went to this place called Gumbos downtown, it was so good! We will definitely have to eat there again next time we go to Denver! I of course, went to take some pictures and didn't have any batteries in my camera! The next day was the wedding. All the guys went to breakfast together and then went back to Grant's house to get ready. Then Dave picked me up for the wedding. Right after the wedding was the reception. It was in the most beautiful place. It was on a golf course, where there were deer just roaming around. For the dinner, we had a Thanksgiving feast. I thought that was so clever being so close to Thanksgiving! Shannon had some family that flew in from Ireland, and there were two girls, ages 9 and 11, who did some traditional Irish dancing at the reception. It was so cool. Dave and I were talking to the dad of the girls and he was telling us that they compete all over Ireland! It looked a lot like Riverdance. The next day, we slept in, and then went shopping! Shannon and Grant met up with us a little later to hang out. It usually seems at weddings, you fly or drive to support the bride and groom but don't really get to see them very much, so it was really nice to be able to spend time with them after the wedding! As you can tell, Dave and I had such a great time on our mini vacation!

I am so excited! One of my favorite places to eat just opened up in Sugar land! I love Mission Burrito, I discovered this place when I was working at AIG, but haven't been back because of the drive. So I was so excited to find out that one opened just a couple of miles from my house! I don't know why I like these burrito places so much, but in Pocatello, my favorite place was New York Burrito. So what's your favorite place to eat? Maybe you can help me expand my horizons!

I can't believe it's already September! August definitely kept us busy! With my job, August means choreography camps, which means I got to put in a lot of hours of work! Thank goodness I love my job and have such a patient husband! I got to make up all of the dances for our cheer teams, and then my friend Hailey came down again this year to help me with my hip hop teams. As always, we had sooo much fun! Hailey is six months pregnant but still had more energy than me! All the parents kept commenting on how cute she was with her little belly! We had one day where we didn't have any choreography to do so we had some ideas on what we were going to do that day.... but when it finally rolled around, we were pretty tired so we just stayed close by and did a little shopping! Thanks Hailey for helping me! We decided that Dave could never be a polygamist because he got a little cranky trying to keep me and Hailey happy and fed all week! It didn't help that while Hailey was here, we had a church dance to DJ. Dave went on time and Hailey and I got there a couple of hours later. The cord had a short in it, so Dave had to hold it the right way all night, or the music would stop! Dave LOVES that calling!(sarcasm) I knew August was going to be a hard month so I prepared, but then last week, I must have let my guard down... I came up with Shingles!!! And as most people know, I get it on my face, not a pretty site! And, I didn't have any pills, so by the time I got to the doctor, which was the next day, it had spread and looked pretty nasty. I would post of a picture of it, but nobody wants to see that! I am excited for the September weather here in Sugar Land! It has started cooling down enough that I can take my dog for a walk outside again after 8 am! Hooray!

3 years! I can't believe Dave and I have been married for 3 years! In some, ways, it seems like we've been married forever, but then in other ways, the years have flown by! We were reminiscing this morning about our wedding day. It was kind of a stressful one... but I didn't turn into bridezilla! Or at least I don't think I did! For me, the morning we got married was chaotic! There was a traffic jam or something for the people coming from Idaho (we got married in Bountiful,UT) so I was worried that I wouldn't get my hair and makeup done in time, then all of my family comes into our hotel room before they headed to the wedding while I'm trying to get dressed, and my sister locked my parents keys in their car... with my veil and everything in it, luckily mom had her spare set. So needless to say, I was a little late for my own wedding! After we got married, we had to take pictures and then go to the dinner. Our pictures went a little long so we were hurrying to get to the dinner and again.... traffic jam! It was about two oclock and Dave and I hadn't eatin anything! Not good! My parents were behind us and jumped out of their car to hand us some pretzels while we were in traffic! Oh good times! All in all though, it was a perfect day! And I've loved every second of being married!

Today is Jana's birthday! I love my wife very much. So much in fact that I am writing on the blog to tell her so. Jana works so dang hard all of the time. I am sure everyone who looks at this blog can tell because she has a new project every week, watches, sandals, scrap booking. Her motor is always running. It is actually very uncomfortable for me, when I am trying to take a nap on Saturday or we are watching a movie she is always cleaning or doing crafts because she feels like she is wasting time by sitting still. I love you Jana. You are a great wife, teacher, and coach, and you will be an awesome mom someday too.

The last few weeks have been busy... and hot! I don't see how Dave can work outside! It's been around 100 degrees but with the heat index it feels like 107! Now I'm not complaining because I get to work inside but Dave is another story! Every time I talk to him, he gets a big talkin to about drinking lots of water and taking it easy! A few weeks ago, I was a leader at Girls Camp at Camp Cho-yeh. It was actually really fun! We called it lodging instead of camping because we got to stay in hotel like rooms. It was so hot that it's kind of a necessity... there is no way I could stay in a tent down here. Even though we were in rooms, we still found lots of bugs. We got to go rock climbing and zip lining, and there was a fun lake we played in too! We really have some great girls in our ward and it was fun to get to know them better! It was fun having my friend Amber up there too! We were pretty much attached at the hip the whole time! The next week, I had to run a dance camp at work during the day. It was very refreshing to get to teach other forms of dance other than hip hop all the time... but I was dead tired at the end of the week! Every day I meant to bring my camera, and I ended up going the whole week without getting one picture! I'm really glad to have next week be normal! Oh one more thing! I started an etsy shop! So if you get a minute, check it out! www.janagarrett.etsy.com

Dave turned the big 2-7 on May 25th... yep Memorial Day! We had a pretty lazy weekend but we did go to Galveston to the beach. Of course we went the day it rained but it actually felt really good! We went with Angie and Greg's family, Mark and Angie, and a friend of theirs. I have a feeling I'm going to be dragging Dave to the beach a lot this summer! For Dave's present, I told him to get the windows of the car tinted, the funny thing about that is, that was suppose to be my birthday present about four years ago!

Wow! Almost a whole month since my last post! My long awaited trip to Florida has come and gone but we definitely made the most of it! I was so excited that my mom was able to come and it was so nice to have her there! We had lots of mom and daughter time! I was on a different schedule than my dance girls because of all the meetings and extra things that I had to go to. It was nice to know that my mom would be waiting for me and then we could spend the day together! If she wouldn't have been there, I would have spent a lot of time alone! As far as the competition, my girls did really good! We were a small team going up against teams that had around 30 people. And I'm talking about boys twirling on their heads and doing all these crazy tricks! Needless to say that we didn't make finals but we were all so proud to even just be there! Another exciting experience I had last week...I was called in for my first time to sub! The funny thing is, is that I'm not even on the sub list! At one time I started going through the steps to become a sub but then decided against it. My friend Kim was subbing for a grade school and called me last Friday. She said they were desperate for subs and asked if I could come in. After talking to the principal I decided I would come in. I get to the school and find out that there were around 26 teachers and aids that had called in sick! When I got there, I was hoping that I would be put in a 3rd grade class or older, but no, I get asked to help with Kindergarten! There was an aid that was filling in until they found a teacher, and I asked her if there was a lesson plan. She said, "No, you can just read to them or something". Five hours with five year olds and nothing to do!!! I found the Magic School Bus online and had them watch that after I read to them... 4 1/2 hours to go! I finally asked another kindergarten teacher what her plans were for the day and she thankfully gave me some worksheets and ideas! It was definitely not a great subbing experience! The kids were cute and MOST of them were really good. I don't think I want that experience any time soon again! Hope you all had a wonderful Mothers Day! Thanks to our moms for being so great! We love you!

Why am I posting a picture of my feet? No it's not to point out the veins, or the flower... I went a got a pedicure the other day! Oh how I love pedicures! I love having someone pamper me while I just sit there. For all of my Sugar land friends, I went to Nails by Yen off of Highway 6 and they are AMAZING! They give you a nice little foot and leg massage, a soda, and I felt like they really take their time to do a good job! The best part is that it's only $21! Well worth it! I also have started a new hobby... as my boss would say.. of course I have! (for some reason she thinks that I do everything- I tell her it's because I grew up in a small town) Anyways, the other day, I went to this store and saw the cutest flip flops with all these rhinestone and conchos. I LOVED them... until I saw the price! They were $150-$300!!! Can you believe it?! So I started thinking that I could make my own. So that is my new thing! The pair I am wearing is one of them that I have made! It's so fun to put a little bling on things! But now I have so many, and I want to make more so I am thinking of maybe opening up an account on ETSY. (A place where you can sell home made things) Is that dumb? On another note, I leave for Florida to take my team to Dance Worlds this week! I am so excited! The best part is my mom's coming! I'm excited to spend some time with her... in DISNEY WORLD! Dave's job has kept him pretty busy lately! He has started going in to work at 5am! I don't know how he does it! I don't even hear the alarm or hear him leave in the morning! He also is going to start personal training at my gym, pretty much so we can see each other a little bit at nights! I'm glad he's going to start that up, because he's so knowledgeable and good when it comes to weight lifting! We hope everyone had a Happy Easter!

This week has been pretty eventful! On Thursday, we had our Viper Banquet. It was so nice to see everyone dressed up in their nice dresses with their hair done instead of work out clothes and hair in a pony tail! After the banquet, Kim, one of my coworkers, had set up a surprise birthday party for Rob and Vicki, my boss, down town. It was a lot of fun! There was a band there, and it was eighties night! I couldn't believe how packed this place was for a Thursday night! Dave and I left around midnight because he had to work the next morning but I glad we went! The next day was the Viper sleepover! So all the kids that were on a Viper team brought their sleeping bag and lots of food for a little party! It again was another late might but a lot of fun! I got to leave around 1am, and had to be to work for just a couple of hours the next day. I think all of the late nights have finally caught up with me. Yesterday, as soon as I got home, I wasn't feeling very well, so I slept a lot this weekend and I'm starting to feel better now! I'm too old for all these late nights!

It's so crazy how Dave and my schedule are completely opposite! Everything from what time we go to work to our busy months! Dave's job is really starting to pick up now, and my job is starting to slow down! So much for us ever planning a vacation together! This weekend, we got to go to Galveston for another dance competition and a banquet for the girls who compete in individuals! Dave came with me and made the weekend even more enjoyable! It was weird seeing boats and businesses still destroyed by the Hurricane Ike! It seems like it was a long time ago for us, but it looked like there was still some clean up to do in Galveston! I am very excited for this to be the start of my spring break! I don't want to have to do anything for a couple of days... except maybe watch some chick flicks!

So I decided I get bored easily! Especially when it comes to my hair! I went in to get my hair highlighted and came home with a new do! I think I really like it! It's only been two days so it's still fun and different. I decided I would post these pictures so my "peeps" in Idaho could see it... since it doesn't look like I'm going to be coming home in March :( On another note... I'm going to Florida! My senior hip hop team got a partial paid bid to go to dance worlds! I am so excited! I had no clue in my first year taking over the hip hop program that we would get invited to such a prestigious competition and have half of it paid for!!! For Christmas, Dave got me a new table and chair set! So here is pictures of it! It's the table height kind!

Well, I've been racking my brain so I can talk about how exciting our lives are... but it's not working. We go to work and go to bed! Thank goodness for church basketball and the Super bowl! Dave was asked to play on our church basketball tournament. The problem is, last time Dave played church basketball, everyone got to see Dave's competitive side, or should I say not so nice side! From what I've heard from his family, church basketball has never been a good thing for Dave! So before he went to play we had a talk. Just a simple reminder that there is no need to take things seriously and to have a good time! Well he did it! He came home not having to call and apologize to anyone! The team even called him to come and play the next day! (Dave is going to love this post! I just know it!) Although he had a lot of fun, he has been soooo sore the last couple of days. It's no fun getting older! For the super bowl, we headed over to Greg and Angie's house. I was so proud of myself because I made this sausage dip that actually tasted good! I wish I was blessed with my mom's cooking skills but I'm not. It was a really good game for the most part but sitting that long watching it wasn't going to happen. Angie and I decided to go up and try out the wii fit! It is so much fun! I loved the hula hoop and yoga! For this picture we were all suppose to pose like we were really getting into the game... but I guess nobody else got the memo! I'm such a poser!

After we got back to Texas, we made a 6 hour drive to New Orleans. It was all worth it though! We got to go to the Sugar Bowl with Angie, Greg, Brevan, Connor, Mark and Angie. Dave and I received some Ute gear for Christmas so we were ready to go support them! On our way down, I forgot my purse in a Subway that we stopped at for lunch about an hour out of New Orleans. Luckily, the ladies that worked there called my mom and she called Dave's phone when we were about a half an hour away. I felt sooo bad that we had to turn around! But leave it to me to do something like that! We got to New Orleans and had a couple of hours to walk around and grab something to eat. We went to Bourbon street to see the sites and we decided that that street wasn't the most family friendly. Dave said that he had smelled locker rooms and urinals that smelled better! He also got a certificate from some random lady. The certificate was the Party Pooper award for being too handsome, girl watching, and not partying hard enough. I guess Dave just stands out in a crowd! We got to the game and realized we were badly outnumbered. And our seats were by a mixed crowd. We were lucky enough to have some drunk college students rooting for Alabama right in front of us! They were so annoying! Luckily they quieted down, because we were ahead the WHOLE time! The first touchdown the Utes made, Dave made sure to be nice and loud right behind them! At the end of the game, they were not very happy and Dave almost got in a fight! It was good times! I'm actually glad we sat where we were because it made the victory that much sweeter!

We had such a great vacation in Utah and Idaho! I was getting so home sick! We started driving on a Thursday night at around 8:00pm... as soon as I got off work, and drove straight through. It actually wasn't that bad of a drive except for the last 100 miles. We hit a blizzard as we were going through Soldier Summit just after Price Utah, which had us driving at 30 mph. We were so ready to get out of the car when we finally got to Dave's parents house 27 hours later! We were able to spend a couple of days in Utah and got to visit with Dave's family. It was nice to see everyone. We got to see Dave's grandparents, brother Tony and Megan, and got to spend time with Shelley and John. While there, we had John take some pictures of us! On Sunday, we were off to Idaho! Almost all of my family came over for Sunday dinner! Max was a little overwhelmed but he soon got use to all of the ruckus! I got to go on the annual shopping trip with my sisters and my dad for search of presents for my mom. I was really happy they waited for me! I also got to see my friend Aricca and get my hair done! I meant to take pictures but... you know. We also went to dinner with Clint and Chelsey... again no picture! I wanted to get together with all of my friends but due to the bad roads, we will have to plan something next time! On the day after Christmas, my sister Theresa and I learned how to use our new sewing machines and made aprons! I am so not good at sewing and I would never have figured it out without my mom but they actually turned out really well! I loved spending time with the fam! We had so much fun and it was just nice to have some layed back days and kick it with the parents! It makes me wish we didn't live so far away... but it makes it more special when we visit! Hope everyone had a Merry Christmas!
