I love this time of year! I always spend way too much money and find a ton of things that I want to buy for myself but I love all the decorations and the lights in all of the stores! I love Christmas music... even though I live with a Grinch who can't stand Christmas music! Dave and I are getting excited to go home and see our families... did I mention we're driving? Yes that's right, we're going to try to drive straight through, 24 hours. I'm excited for the little adventure right now, but ask me when we're 10 hours into the drive and not even half way there, I'm sure I'll be changing my story! The reason I haven't had much to say on my blog lately is because almost every weekend I'm at a competition and I already wrote about one of them! I love going to the competitions but it is usually such a big and busy day! Last night, we had my work party. It was a lot of fun! I work with such a great group of people that no matter what we do, it's always fun! Here is a picture of my coworker Kim and I. And here is me and Dave. He is such a good sport to come and support me. He usually even shows up at the competitions for a little bit! Now that's dedication! Here is a picture of Dave playing touch football at the Turkey Bowl! Merry Christmas!

GO UTES

This is my first blogging experience. I said to myself "Self, what would be the perfect blog, besides Twilight" And I came up with the perfect idea of Megan Fox (from Transformers) in a U of U jersey. But I realized I don't know how to do any of this stuff and I would need to ask Jana for help. I knew that would not happen so I am just going to put up a picture of a Giant "U" and I want y'all (that's right I said y'all) to give the Utes a shout out "Holla if ya hear me" BYU fans are welcome to jump on board and apologize for thinking they had a chance last week, just kidding...kind of.Oh yeah happy Thanksgiving. I am thankful for my wife and for her willingness to forgive me for the Megan Fox thing.

One down a lot to go!

I finally got my first competition out of the way! It was crazy! Me and my coworkers met at the gym at 6:30 in the morning to start the day off! All of our cheer teams were scheduled to compete in the morning, which was nice... to get them all out of the way but hectic at the same time! It's a system to get the girls warmed up and ready! We had a great day though! Everyone was great at jumping in and doing what needed to be done! We took 7 cheer team and 6 of them took first place and the other team took 2nd. We had stiff competition too! We were happy that all of our hard work paid off! After we got our awards, we had time to go to lunch before my hip hop teams went. It was a nice little break but then the craziness started again! Actually it wasn't so bad! I have three hip hop teams and warming up dances isn't near as crazy as warming up for a cheer routine! My teams did great! I was so proud of each and every one of them! All three teams took first place! My senior team also won innovative choreography and high point... which means best choreography and best score for all of the dancers! I was real excited! PS. I only have pictures of my senior team... and that's because a mom gave them to me! I lugged around my camera all day and didn't get any pictures!

Oh the places we have been

The last couple of weeks have been pretty eventful. Last week my boss at Victory Vipers asked if Dave and I wanted to go see the Houston Dynamos play. I had no clue who they were but come to find out, they are Houston's professional Soccer team. And they were going to be playing David Beckham's team! I didn't hesitate to tell her we would go! After we arrived at the game, we found out David Beckham was hurt and didn't come! I was upset but we still had a great time! So that means I have now been to a professional soccer, baseball and basketball game. I guess the next one we need to see is a professional football game! My boss Vicki, the world champion Tumbler Jose(coworker), and me Looking for David Beckham This week, I drug Dave along to our first cheer competition. Our girls that were doing individuals were the only ones who went, not our whole team. The competition was in San Antonio so we left Saturday around 1pm (after I had to work) and drove up there. We hit the San Marcos outlet malls and spent way too much money and then we spent the night at my co worker's (kim's) mom's house. The competition started the next day at 5pm! So needless to say, we didn't make it home until 2am and poor Dave had to wake up at 5 to go to work! I was glad he came with me and he was such a good sport about carrying the radio, my jacket, my purse...We smuggled in some candy and that seemed to keep Dave in a good mood!

So you think you can dance

Guess what I did last night? I went to the So you think you can dance tour. It was so much fun! I went with some of the same people I went with last year... there was Angie, Angie, Janice and me! We left a little early and went and ate a Mexican Restaurant. It was just fun to have good company and to have a little GNO (Girl's night out).
Dave recently made a trip up to Idaho to go see some of his old football buddies and to watch ISU get spanked. How sad! I told him to take pictures, gave him a camera and everything and do you think he came home with any? No! I guess he doesn't understand that I need pictures to post on the blog! It sounds like he had fun! It was a very layed back weekend for him.
Then there was me, I had to work all weekend but I also went to my boss's house on Saturday night, after work, and we had a taco party! We made taco's and watched Madonna and Brittany Spears tour video. It was a lot of fun! It's fun when you like the people you work with!

Houston we have a problem!

So we made it through our first hurricane! It was pretty exciting, but I started getting really nervous around 8 pm. The hurricane was suppose to hit around 2 am and that's all that was on TV. So the more I would watch and listen about it, the more scared I would get! Well I stayed awake until about 1 and then I couldn't keep my eyes open! So I slept through the best part....who does that! We lost power at around 3 am so that's about when Dave tried to get some sleep. The next morning, we looked outside and I couldn't believe the damage. I thought we had made it through pretty good but outside there were so many trees and power lines down! We got pretty lucky because we were only out of power for about a half a day but some people still don't have power! Angie and Greg didn't get power until Tuesday night so they stayed at our house a couple nights. It was like a big sleepover... we enjoyed having them here!
The pictures don't really do the storm any justic but you can see all of the branches and trees down. Our mail box almost didn't make it! I went to the grocery store a couple of days later and it was so strange! There was nothing in produce or the freezer and refridgerator part of the store. All I wanted was some ice cream! Gas was a disaster as well! There were huge lines to fill up.
We finally got our TV, internet and phone service today! I didn't realize how much I like my computer until we didn't have the internet for a week! I feel guilty even complaining about that when some people still don't even have power!
The funny thing is... one of the first things I thought of when I woke up on Saturday was how I misspelled bored on my last blog and I didn't even know how long it was going to be until I could fix it! I'm lame!
I couldn't believe how fast people started working on their yards and cleaning up after the storm. The hurricane came through early Saturday and by that afternoon, people we trying to put all of the branches and things in a pile!
The church didn't have power on Sunday, so instead of the meetings, the men went around the community and did service like chopping down trees and helping people who needed help. I thought that was pretty cool! Dave has been working very hard chopping down trees and has a HUGE bruise on his hamstring to prove it! So while I have had the week off, making cards and cleaning my house, Dave has been getting his sevice points in for the year! What a good man I married!
Going through this really makes you realize how important it is to be prepared. We have a pretty good start on our food storage and our 72 hour kit but I realized, I might have a can of dried beans, but what do I do with them? I don't know how to cook them! If I had to do this hurricane thing over again, I think I would make sure I had more batteries and maybe things like powdered milk in my food storage.

Ike aramba!

Well it looks like we will be going through my first hurricane! I'm a little nervous but then the morbid side of me is kind of excited to go through a natural disaster! We stocked up on our food storage, our flashlights, and we boarded up some of our windows... so I think we're ready. This morning I went outside to let Max out and our neighbors were talking about being prepared for tornadoes afterward. I didn't even think about that! We've been keeping a close eye on the news and they told us that if you were not in a mandatory evacuation zip code, you were a bad person if you tried to leave! Well maybe they didn't say it quite like that but they made it very clear that we should shelter in place so that we didn't hold up the people who had to get out of dodge!
Yesterday Dave and I decided to go get Taco Bell and were surprised to see that all of the gas stations were out of gas! Luckily I fueled up the day before. We also ran to the grocery store because we were craving toaster stuedels and it was amazing to see how bare the shelves were. There was no water or ice left! Another thing that was going fast was generators. Dave said that by his office, a truck full of them pulled up and they were all sold out within an hour.
Who knows, we might not have power so I decided I would update the blog and let all of you Idahoans in on our crazy situation! Plus, we've been home all day because nothing is open and I'm getting kind of board. I've already checked my blog about 5 times today... I told you I was board!

I just went home... again last week and loved every minute of it! I think I have been home about 7 times since we have lived here. I got to see a few of my friends and all of my brothers and sisters this time! I went to Pocatello for a day and got to see Nikki, Hailey and Danielle. I was glad I got to spend a little bit of time with them! I was bummed that I didn't get any pictures. After I left, I wanted to kick myself because I wouldn't have any pictures to put on my blog! There were so many other people I wanted to see but I only spent one day in Poky. Next time I will try to see some of my other friends as well! On the Saturday before I left, we went and floated the river. It was so much fun other than the fact that I thought my mom was going to drown. She fell out of her tube and my poor brother was trying to help her back in. You know how most people get in a tube... well my mom was holding onto me and my tube and tried to put her feet in first. Needless to say that that didn't work! After many tries, and laughs, we finally got mom back in her tube! Bryan was trying to hold on to mom to make sure she wouldn't drown which was really nice of him but mom had about 5 little bruises on her arm the next day! We had so much fun obviously... it was a little chilly for me though. I guess I'm getting use to this Texas heat!
Me and my sis Theresa before we got in the river!
Mom fallling out of her tube!

My friend Hailey came to visit us this week! We had sooo much fun. She came to help me choreograph some hip hop routines so we ended up working a lot.... and shopping a lot! Hailey flew in on Friday and left on Wednesday, in which I did not go to bed before 1 am on any of those nights! We seriously acted like a couple of school girls excited to see each other and I don't think we ever stopped talking! Poor Dave!
I was so happy to share my life down here with one of my home friends! And to have her see where I work and the people I work with! She kept saying it was so hot down here... I guess I've adjusted because I didn't think it felt that bad! I definetely miss all of my good friends back home! So you are all welcome to visit anytime you like!
On one of our shopping sprees, I picked out a shirt for Hailey and she picked one out for me! I found an 80's rocker shirt for her and she found one with a crown on it for me!
On another one of our shopping sprees we got matching sweaters! I know, we're nerds!
Ok Dave was trying to take a nap and Max kept sitting on his head!

A year goes so fast!

A year ago from now is when Dave and I were traveling for 34 hours to make Texas our new home! I can't believe it's been a year! I thought for sure last year at this time that I was going to hate it down here and make Dave take me back to Idaho in six months! Although I do miss my family and friends, the Texas move has really been a good little adventure! I've made some great friends down here, we both have a good job and we were able to get a puppy! Luckily Dave let's me go home whenever I get a chance so that helps with the home sick business!
This past weekend, at my work, we had a guest Choreographer come to teach some of the routines to our cheerleaders. Come to find out, he is the coach for the Long Beach dance team, who we (Bengal Dancers) competed against in Florida. I was proud to say I danced for ISU... mainly because we beat Long Beach every year! Go Bengals! He was a great guy though and had some fabulous ideas for the cheer team! I just had to toot my own horn for a little bit!
I have the greatest boss in the world. The other day I was talking about how I wanted a beach cruiser and guess what they gave me as a thank you gift... a beach cruiser! I am still so stoked about it...now I just need to get a basket so Max can ride with me!

Sunday, July 20, 2008

Dave's parent's were here a couple of weeks ago to help Angie out with her new baby boy. It was nice to spend some time with them! I also realized I have a lot of pictures of my family but not as many with Dave's! We definetely don't get to see enough of them!
This month has been a really good one! But I always love July because... it's my birthday! Dave did everything he could to make sure I had a good day! First off, he's not very good at surprises so I got my birthday present about a week early. He gave me an I touch. It is so nice to use for work and I can't wait to go on a plane ride and watch a movie on it. For those of you who don't know what an ITouch is, it's just like an I phone but doesn't have the phone. So I have wireless internet, an ipod, a day planner, I can watch movies.... yea I'm excited about it! I also recieved lots of texts, phone calls, and presents from my family, friends and my work! Thanks everyone! So we decided to go to Kemah to celebrate. Kemah is about an hour away from where we live and is a little boardwalk town! It was fun but it was so hot and about an hour wait to eat anywhere... so we walked around for a little bit and decided to go to Taco Bell! Perfect! The last two birthdays of mine, Dave has been in Texas while I was in Idaho so it was nice to finally spend a birthday with him!
My birthday presents!
I knew we probably wouldn't get a picture in Kemah so we took one before we left!
Ok I just had to add this picture of Max!

Too hot for long hair!

Ok so living here in Texas, it is too hot for long hair! Plus I just needed a change! I went in to get my hair highlighted and ended up cutting off 10 inches! (We'll see if Locks of Love will take it.) That's pretty big for me considering my hair doesn't grow! Dave cut his too but his hair grows over night!
What's under a pony's tail?
I tried to find a before and after picture with my hair long, but my hair is always pulled back in a ponytail! Hence, the need for a cut!
Dave wanted to keep this do but the answer was NO!

Happy Fathers Day!

Things about my dad!

  • My dad has always been there. Whether it was a dance recital, Rodeo Queen Contest, or College game I am dancing at, my dad has always made an effort to be there!
  • Dad has always been a hard worker and has taught his kids to be the same way!
  • Dad's a spoiler! We always knew if we wanted money, to ask dad but don't tell mom! Sorry mom!
  • Dad may not be the most religious or spiritual, but he would do anything to help people out!
  • What you see is what you get!
  • Everyone has always thought that my dad was so cool! I think it's because you can be yourself around him!

Love ya pa!Dave's not a father, but hey, he's a good husband!

Read a good book lately?

Recently I finished this book, The Host. It is soo good! I am actually glad I am done with it so now I can get some sleep! Dave and I usually try to go to bed around 10:30 and lately I was staying up till past midnight reading! It's witten by Stephanie Meyer, the same person who wrote the Twilight series and it's definetely just as addicting! I love her writing because its easy to read and interesting the whole time! If you are looking for a good book, I definetely suggest reading this one! On Stephenie Meyer's website she says it's "Science fiction for people who don't like science fiction"! Now I just have to wait until August when the fourth book of the Twilight series comes out!

Our new addition

We got a teacup yorkie this weekend! He is so cute and so tiny! I swear he is the smallest dog I have ever seen! So far we are having tons of fun with him! He's only 8 weeks old! We named him Maximus or Max!

I think it's time for a hair cut!

After sitting on the couch running his fingers through his hair... this was the outcome! Dave needed a haircut badly! He just kept putting it off until he had an afro! Luckily, a couple of days after this picture, we made time to go get Dave's hair cut!
Today Dave and I had to talk in Sacrament Meeting. So we spent our Saturday night writing our talks! But we made it through and now won't have to speak again for a while! Yeay!
Dave's younger brother Nate flew in on Friday to live with us for the summer. Dave's excited because now he will have a Halo buddy!

The last two weekends have been pretty eventful!

I went to a hip hop clinic this weekend and guess who was there? Americas best dance crew "Kabba Modern" and "Iconic"! It was a blast but I definitely am out of pratice! What an opportunity though!
Me with Kabba Modern!
Last Weekend Dave and I went canoeing with the Young Women in our church for girls camp. We both got great farmer tans that are now peeling! Good times!
