Dave and I just got back from a fun little weekend in Denver. One of Dave's old college roommates, Grant, got married. Dave was asked to be an usher so he got to get all dressed up in a tux and help people to their seats. We were able to hang out with Mike, one of Dave's best friends a lot during the weekend. Surprisingly, we were able to hang out with Shannon and Grant as well! I've met Shannon a couple of times and every time I see her, she is so nice and cool! The first night we got in, Dave and I kind of hung out on our own. The next day, we met up with the other guys in the wedding and picked up the tux's. After that, Dave had a rehearsal so I just hung out in the room. After the rehearsal we went to the rehearsal dinner. We went to this place called Gumbos downtown, it was so good! We will definitely have to eat there again next time we go to Denver! I of course, went to take some pictures and didn't have any batteries in my camera! The next day was the wedding. All the guys went to breakfast together and then went back to Grant's house to get ready. Then Dave picked me up for the wedding. Right after the wedding was the reception. It was in the most beautiful place. It was on a golf course, where there were deer just roaming around. For the dinner, we had a Thanksgiving feast. I thought that was so clever being so close to Thanksgiving! Shannon had some family that flew in from Ireland, and there were two girls, ages 9 and 11, who did some traditional Irish dancing at the reception. It was so cool. Dave and I were talking to the dad of the girls and he was telling us that they compete all over Ireland! It looked a lot like Riverdance. The next day, we slept in, and then went shopping! Shannon and Grant met up with us a little later to hang out. It usually seems at weddings, you fly or drive to support the bride and groom but don't really get to see them very much, so it was really nice to be able to spend time with them after the wedding! As you can tell, Dave and I had such a great time on our mini vacation!

I am so excited! One of my favorite places to eat just opened up in Sugar land! I love Mission Burrito, I discovered this place when I was working at AIG, but haven't been back because of the drive. So I was so excited to find out that one opened just a couple of miles from my house! I don't know why I like these burrito places so much, but in Pocatello, my favorite place was New York Burrito. So what's your favorite place to eat? Maybe you can help me expand my horizons!

I can't believe it's already September! August definitely kept us busy! With my job, August means choreography camps, which means I got to put in a lot of hours of work! Thank goodness I love my job and have such a patient husband! I got to make up all of the dances for our cheer teams, and then my friend Hailey came down again this year to help me with my hip hop teams. As always, we had sooo much fun! Hailey is six months pregnant but still had more energy than me! All the parents kept commenting on how cute she was with her little belly! We had one day where we didn't have any choreography to do so we had some ideas on what we were going to do that day.... but when it finally rolled around, we were pretty tired so we just stayed close by and did a little shopping! Thanks Hailey for helping me! We decided that Dave could never be a polygamist because he got a little cranky trying to keep me and Hailey happy and fed all week! It didn't help that while Hailey was here, we had a church dance to DJ. Dave went on time and Hailey and I got there a couple of hours later. The cord had a short in it, so Dave had to hold it the right way all night, or the music would stop! Dave LOVES that calling!(sarcasm) I knew August was going to be a hard month so I prepared, but then last week, I must have let my guard down... I came up with Shingles!!! And as most people know, I get it on my face, not a pretty site! And, I didn't have any pills, so by the time I got to the doctor, which was the next day, it had spread and looked pretty nasty. I would post of a picture of it, but nobody wants to see that! I am excited for the September weather here in Sugar Land! It has started cooling down enough that I can take my dog for a walk outside again after 8 am! Hooray!

3 years! I can't believe Dave and I have been married for 3 years! In some, ways, it seems like we've been married forever, but then in other ways, the years have flown by! We were reminiscing this morning about our wedding day. It was kind of a stressful one... but I didn't turn into bridezilla! Or at least I don't think I did! For me, the morning we got married was chaotic! There was a traffic jam or something for the people coming from Idaho (we got married in Bountiful,UT) so I was worried that I wouldn't get my hair and makeup done in time, then all of my family comes into our hotel room before they headed to the wedding while I'm trying to get dressed, and my sister locked my parents keys in their car... with my veil and everything in it, luckily mom had her spare set. So needless to say, I was a little late for my own wedding! After we got married, we had to take pictures and then go to the dinner. Our pictures went a little long so we were hurrying to get to the dinner and again.... traffic jam! It was about two oclock and Dave and I hadn't eatin anything! Not good! My parents were behind us and jumped out of their car to hand us some pretzels while we were in traffic! Oh good times! All in all though, it was a perfect day! And I've loved every second of being married!

Today is Jana's birthday! I love my wife very much. So much in fact that I am writing on the blog to tell her so. Jana works so dang hard all of the time. I am sure everyone who looks at this blog can tell because she has a new project every week, watches, sandals, scrap booking. Her motor is always running. It is actually very uncomfortable for me, when I am trying to take a nap on Saturday or we are watching a movie she is always cleaning or doing crafts because she feels like she is wasting time by sitting still. I love you Jana. You are a great wife, teacher, and coach, and you will be an awesome mom someday too.

The last few weeks have been busy... and hot! I don't see how Dave can work outside! It's been around 100 degrees but with the heat index it feels like 107! Now I'm not complaining because I get to work inside but Dave is another story! Every time I talk to him, he gets a big talkin to about drinking lots of water and taking it easy! A few weeks ago, I was a leader at Girls Camp at Camp Cho-yeh. It was actually really fun! We called it lodging instead of camping because we got to stay in hotel like rooms. It was so hot that it's kind of a necessity... there is no way I could stay in a tent down here. Even though we were in rooms, we still found lots of bugs. We got to go rock climbing and zip lining, and there was a fun lake we played in too! We really have some great girls in our ward and it was fun to get to know them better! It was fun having my friend Amber up there too! We were pretty much attached at the hip the whole time! The next week, I had to run a dance camp at work during the day. It was very refreshing to get to teach other forms of dance other than hip hop all the time... but I was dead tired at the end of the week! Every day I meant to bring my camera, and I ended up going the whole week without getting one picture! I'm really glad to have next week be normal! Oh one more thing! I started an etsy shop! So if you get a minute, check it out! www.janagarrett.etsy.com

Birthday Boy and going home

Dave turned the big 2-7 on May 25th... yep Memorial Day! We had a pretty lazy weekend but we did go to Galveston to the beach. Of course we went the day it rained but it actually felt really good! We went with Angie and Greg's family, Mark and Angie, and a friend of theirs. I have a feeling I'm going to be dragging Dave to the beach a lot this summer! For Dave's present, I told him to get the windows of the car tinted, the funny thing about that is, that was suppose to be my birthday present about four years ago!
